What is Nose Mole Removal?
Moles on the nose occur when the skin cells grow in a cluster rather than spread evenly amongst the tissue. Genetics, sun exposure and hormones can all cause moles to develop.
Most nose moles are perfectly healthy with no worrying features (bleeding, change of shape, size, colour or crusting). Still, I always sent them to a lab for further examination by a consultant pathologist. This gives you peace of mind.
If there has been a change to your mole, the NHS will provide fast-tracked diagnostic services. These results will determine whether your nose mole will need to be removed. If you have experienced a change in your mole, then please attend a GP appointment with your regular GP.
The vast majority of moles are completely benign (not cancerous).
What does the treatment for Nose Mole Removal involve?
We numb the area around the mole with a local anaesthetic. Once the anaesthetic is doing its job, it’s precisely removed under magnification.
The tiny wound left behind is close using soluble stitches under magnification. There’s no need for a follow-up visit as the stitches will dissolve harmlessly on their own accord.
Recovery from Nose Mole Removal
The face heals quickly and nose moles are no different. You can expect healing in a week or so. The stitches usually last 2–3 weeks, occasionally a little longer.
