What is Chin Mole Removal?
A mole on the chin can occur for several reasons.
- Genetics
- Sun exposure
- Pregnancy
- Hormones
Moles occur when the skin cells grow in a cluster rather than spreading evenly amongst the tissues.
Most chin moles are perfectly healthy with no worrying features (bleeding, change of shape, size, colour or crusting). For your peace of mind, I send every mole I remove to a consultant pathologist.
If you have seen a recent change to your mole, the NHS will provide fast-tracked diagnostic services. The results of their diagnostic services will determine whether your chin mole will need to be removed. If you have experienced a change in your mole, please attend a GP appointment with your regular GP.
The vast majority of moles are completely benign (not cancerous).
What does the treatment for Chin Mole Removal involve?
We use a local anaesthetic to number the area – once the anaesthetic does its job, the chin mole is removed precisely under magnification.
The micro wound left behind is closed with soluble stitches under magnification. There’s no need for a follow-up appointment as the stitches will dissolve independently.
Recovery from Chin Mole Removal
Facial mole removals heal quickly, and chin moles are no different. You can expect healing to take place over a week, with the stitches dissolving over a 2–3 week period.
