Mr Payne has been a Consultant Vascular and General Surgeon on the GMC specialist register since 1998. His NHS role was at the extremely busy 997 bed Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth. Here he developed awake carotid endarterectomy to prevent stroke – performing approximately 1000 such cases over his NHS career as well as performing and teaching countless other major emergency and planned operations.
Simon Payne’s role now still revolves around the welfare of his patients but in a private capacity. The treatments range from laser surgery for varicose veins through removal of lipomas, moles and cysts to repair of earlobes and removal of fatty deposits (Xanthelasma) from the eyelids
