Painful DIY lesion treatment

This little wound with “invisible mending” buried dissolving stitches is all that remains half an hour after this lady walked in as an urgent patient (at her daughters insistence!) with a large (3cm) growth on her leg that she was treating with dental floss!

A DIY treatment for some lesions is to wrap its base with cotton and wait for it to drop off. This works by stopping the blood supply, the lesion becomes gangrenous, falls off and then heals.

The disadvantages of this method are that as gangrene sets in, so might infection. The lesion can become extremely painful because its blood supply has been stopped and the lesion cannot be sent for pathological examination for reassurance that it is benign.

I am available for precise surgery in a calm clinical environment with pathology reporting if needed.

Please see before and after photos of the procedure.
