Mole Removal in Chichester
Moles may develop when skin cells cluster instead of being evenly distributed, triggered by factors like genetics, pregnancy, sun exposure, and hormonal changes. While the majority of moles are benign, they can rarely develop into melanoma, the most dangerous form of skin cancer.
If your mole has recently changed, the NHS offers a fast-track diagnostic service to assess the risk of skin cancer and determine whether the mole requires removal. If you are concerned about changes in your mole, don’t hesitate to get in touch with your GP for an urgent appointment.
What does the treatment for Mole Removal involve?
To begin the mole removal procedure, I numb the area surrounding the mole with a local anaesthetic. I then precisely remove the mole under the same local anaesthetic, leaving a small wound.
To close the wound, I use fine, absorbable stitches placed under magnification. There is no need for a follow-up appointment as the stitches dissolve independently.

Recovery from Mole Removal
On average, mole removals take about two weeks to heal, but facial mole removals can heal much quicker, usually in around one week. The absorbable stitches used in the procedure take about 2-3 weeks to dissolve fully.
What you can expect from Mole Removal
Usually, a mole removal procedure takes around 30 minutes. To make things more convenient for you, I offer a combined consultation and treatment appointment that typically lasts about 45 minutes, allowing you to have the procedure done in one visit.
