Infected Sebaceous Cyst

Painful infected sebaceous cyst.

I treated this problem recently using high-definition ultrasound scanning. As you see the scan shows the huge cyst under the surface. Immediate surgery would have created a large open wound requiring dressings for many weeks.

The second scan image shows a small needle inserted under ultrasound guidance, enabling drainage of infected material. Supplemented by antibiotics this persons cyst has settled and awaits minor surgery, with a small wound which I will close with dissolving stitches.
